ACECH April 2025 President’s Message

Wow — can you believe we’re already in Q2 of 2025? I continue to be inspired by the enthusiasm, participation, and leadership of our ACECH firm members, staff, and Board. Your collective vision and commitment are what make our Hawaii member organization so impactful.

We closed out Q1 with the resoundingly successful 2025 Engineering Excellence Awards. More than 200 attendees joined us at the awards banquet to celebrate this year’s winners and to honor Ginny Wright, David Bills and Lester Fukuda.  The full list of award recipients is available on our website.

While each of the five recognized projects is impressive, special congratulations go to R.M. Towill Corporation, which received both the Grand Conceptor and People’s Choice Awards for Honouliuli Wastewater Treatment Plant Phase 1B.

Looking ahead to summer, ACECH is planning a series of student mixer events designed to inspire and connect the next generation of engineers. These events are part of our broader commitment to addressing the ongoing workforce challenges facing Hawaii’s engineering industry. By engaging with students early, we hope to encourage them to build their careers here at home — whether they’re current residents or Hawai‘i-born students studying on the mainland. More details on this important initiative will be shared soon — stay tuned.
