ACECH March 2026 President’s Message

Aloha, I had planned to do my message in poem format for the month of February, you know Valentine’s Day and all, but my January message was tardy and ended up being in the February newsletter instead; but hey, better late than never… so here it is:

Roses are Red,
And Violet are Blue,
How has ACECH,
Been working for you?

Engineer’s Week was proclaimed,
in our beautiful land.
Engineer’s recognized,
from the mountain to sand.

In the chambers of our legislators,
policy introduced.
Lead by Janice and Ikaika,
a list of bills is produced.

Twenty-five in total,
that’s what’s being tracked.
The Legislative Committee’s email,
is currently packed.

The line between a Detention Basin,
and green infrastructure was blurred.
Despite our best efforts,
our proposal was deferred.

Better insurance language,
for an expedited building permit,
Building code council, cesspools,
and a State architect.

A few of great concern,
related to external consultants.
The current language is now amenable
Our industry should be exultant.

Our Big Island GMM,
Engineering Partners was the key.
Thank you for the golf,
goodies, and gourmet musubi!

Daeus Bencome 1 presented,
their tree-to-chocolate process.
Did you miss out by not attending?
Well, the answer is yes!

Now around the corner,
it’s time to celebrate and recognize.
Support the industry at the EEA,
and see what project wins the grand prize.

A donation to the silent auction,
helps our PAC Champion Jay Stone.
Those proceeds go to our National PAC,
A goal that Jay should not do alone!

ACEC Legislative Summit.
In May, in DC.
See what it’s about,
and wear a fancy suit with me.

I hope that got over well,
and brought some joy and not misery,
Happy March update,
From your President Charles Jury
